Popular journalist, Thomas Dixon has reportedly gone missing hours after he criticised the Inspector-General of Police, William Fayia Sellu on his Facebook page.
Dixon, in a Facebook post on Saturday morning, described the IG to be an “arrogant IGP” following a phone conversation he had with him concerning a court matter.
Family members of the journalist, Dixon, have voiced their significant concern regarding his current whereabouts, as reported by the Gleaner Newspaper. They expressed their inability to locate him and highlighted the anxiety surrounding his absence.
It is now clear that the journalist’s status is ambiguous; he may either be missing or has intentionally chosen to go into hiding due to his comments regarding IG Fayia-Sellu.
Dixon is recognized by many Sierra Leoneans as a courageous journalist renowned for his unwavering resolve to challenge both governmental authority and corporate power. His fearless approach to reporting sets him apart, as he boldly addresses injustices and holds those in power accountable, earning him the respect and admiration of a dedicated following.
Very sad to see sierra-leoneans the way they criticize authorities face to face or through social media is very bad,but when they step out the soil of salone they fully respect authorities they face with and abide to the laws of their various destinations, how can you be so open to to address a top,top senior police officer(IGP) of the SLP to be “ARROGANT” and you label yourself as a journalist, such journalist should go back to the classroom and be taught how to talk to authorities, they are the types that ignite trouble between essential institutions like the “SLP & SLAJ

Why is it that when someone says the truth under this government, it can be treated? Who is the IG? He is a servant for the people, works for the people, and earns a salary at the end of the month. The money he receives every month is not from the pocket of our president but from Sierra Leonean taxpayer money. In life, in respect of your position,, you have to respect other,s and you will be respected in return. Why the said IG should use the word “You have crossed the red line” let him be investigated, he used the word and the full-grown man disappeared we have lost our freedom of speech, the police or the government force are not serving the people of sierra leone anymore but their selfish interest, but always remember prosperity will judge one day.
Salone na contry
Being that police have nothing to do with bail, other than honoring bail set by a judge, or not, if the journalist is telling the truth, it t was Sellu that crossed the red line. If he indeed did what he is accused of, I can think of worse things to call him. What he sent over via text is a threat and since our country is now so strict on cyber stalking, can he be punished? We uncivilized. If you have thin skin, do not become a public official
