A delegation from the British High Commission’s Home Office International Operations visited the Director General of the National Civil Registration Authority, Mohamed Mubashir Massaquoi, to explore enhanced cooperation in verifying identity records, including births, marriages, and national identity cards.
The discussions focused on critical aspects of identity verification processes and on the potential to grant secure, controlled access to NCRA’s data to relevant applicants.
According to the Ministry of National Civil Registration Authority, the engagement notably reflects the shared commitment between the United Kingdom and Sierra Leone to strengthen robust, reliable identity management systems that support legal identity, migration processes, and broader governance objectives while prioritising the protection of personal information.

Both parties placed strong emphasis on safeguarding citizens’ data protection and security, ensuring that any future arrangements fully comply with privacy standards and best practices in data handling.
Finally, the engagement builds on ongoing bilateral efforts to promote secure and efficient civil registration practices in Sierra Leone.
