The National Revenue Authority (NRA) hosted British High Commissioner Ms. Josephine Gauld on a courtesy visit on Friday, reinforcing bilateral cooperation on revenue administration and economic governance.
High Commissioner Gauld affirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Sierra Leone’s public financial management in line with International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank frameworks. She praised the NRA’s coordination with its Board and expressed confidence in the institution’s reform progress.
NRA Commissioner General Mrs. Jeneba J. Bangura reported that the Authority remains on track to achieve its mid-year revenue goals. She credited stakeholder collaboration and operational momentum for the positive outlook, emphasizing that year-end targets are also within reach.
Key discussion points included the UK-funded Data Warehouse Project, which enhances compliance and risk management without imposing new taxes. Mrs. Bangura also highlighted recent enforcement successes, including the interception of a kush-laden container, as evidence of strengthened border controls.
The Commissioner General outlined ongoing initiatives to improve institutional efficiency and border management, signaling a shift toward more transparent and accountable revenue systems.
The NRA stated that such engagements are critical to its modernization agenda.
