Popular Sierra Leonean musician Camouflage has publicly criticised the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) following its decision to appoint French coach Didier Gomes da Rosa as head coach of the national team, Leone Stars, instead of retaining former coach Mohamed Kallon.
In a statement shared on social media, the artist questioned the FA’s decision, arguing that Kallon and Da Rosa possess comparable coaching credentials. He suggested that the FA had overlooked a qualified local coach in favour of a foreign appointment.
“This country snubbed him (Kallon) for a foreigner with the same qualifications,” Camouflage stated.

The musician also raised concerns about reports regarding the salary package offered to the newly appointed coach. According to Camouflage, the SLFA was unwilling to meet Kallon’s salary demands but is reportedly prepared to offer a much higher salary to Da Rosa.
“USD 15,000 is too much for Kallon but USD 25,000 or USD 30,000 is not too much for a foreigner?” he questioned.
The appointment of Da Rosa has sparked mixed reactions among football fans across Sierra Leone. While some supporters have welcomed the move, others have expressed reservations about the Frenchman’s coaching record, particularly his relatively short spells with clubs and national teams during his managerial career.
However, the SLFA has defended its decision, citing Da Rosa’s extensive experience working in African football and his track record of success on the continent. The FA noted that the coach has won more than 10 trophies during his coaching career across Africa and Asia.
The appointment comes as Sierra Leone prepares for upcoming international competitions, with expectations high for the new coach to improve the performance of the Leone Stars who have been absent from the AFCON for close to five years now.
