A flagbearer aspirant for the main opposition, All People’s Congress (APC), Osman Timbo, has raised serious concerns regarding the recent decision by the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) to ban political campaign materials, including banners and posters, in public spaces.
In an interview, Timbo questioned the timing of the PPRC’s announcement, noting that the ban was imposed just as the APC is set to begin its lower-level elections in August this year.
“It is almost at the time when the All People’s Party (APC) is about to commence its lower level elections,” he stated, stressing on the poor timing by the PPRC.
Timbo expressed scepticism about the motives behind the ban, suggesting that it raises questions about the PPRC’s intentions. “We have our reasons for why they brought up the ban decision only now,” he remarked.
He, however, refrained from making any hasty conclusions, stating, “I do not want to make a quick conclusion by judging that it is because the APC wants to start their election, and the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has already finished theirs.”
He further elaborated on his concerns, asking, “Why only now? Why not before?” His inquiry reflects his suspicion regarding the PPRC’s decision-making process and its potential impact on the APC’s electoral activities.
Timbo’s reaction stems from a ban proposed by the PPRC in late June on the display of campaign materials by political parties in the country. The PPRC warned in a press release that the display of such materials could spur tensions akin to that of the national election. The Commission threatened action against political parties that could fail to abide by the directive.

Birds of the same feathers
This is the same tactics they used 2021, 2022 down to 2023.
Using institutions to intimidating opposition parties in favour of the then ruling SLPP government. Helping them to ring the 2023 elections
They had started it again
First, Using Statistics Sierra Leone. To create more district and divide the city with going through constitutional procedure’s (small small Freetown, dem want for divide am bake)
Secondly, By appointing NEC commissioner without consultation with registered political parties
Thirdly, Using PPRC to stop APC contesting candidates, to display their flyer’s and banners.
Very soon, they will use the police and military judiciary, to stop other political parties from holding meetings and rallies…. (Let’s just wait and see)
Why can’t they just have free and fair election?Something is not right, especially the patterns of how the institutions operate.. how do you call your laws after the ruling party has done there’s? And your response seems to be aggressive towards the opposition parties without them justify or being heard, it’s show clearly that the institution have been bought pitiful, let’s leave Politics aside if we truly love our Nation for our future generations, both the Legislative, Executive and Judicial system will act independently, not dependently on any ruling government.. Power is so greedy by Politicians that when they have they don’t want to let go, that’s why Africans will always be a third world despite we produce all the riches.
If your government truly works for the people, you will be confident to win without any form of misconduct raise by your opposition and the citizens of the country
