Sierra Leone’s current Chief Minister, Dr. Moinina David Sengeh, and Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, are celebrating nearly two decades of dedicated service to advocacy and nation-building.
The pair’s long-standing commitment to child rights was highlighted recently when Bah shared a post on X, reminiscing about their early activism.
In his post, Bah shared photos from nearly 20 years ago, depicting their work during the establishment of the Child Rights Act. At that time, Bah was the President of the Children’s Forum Network (CFN), and Sengeh served as the Secretary General. Together, they campaigned successfully for the enactment of the pioneering legislation aimed at protecting children’s rights in Sierra Leone.
Bah reflected on their journey, stating, “Nearly 20 years ago, Chief Minister David Sengeh and I were actively involved in pushing for the Child Rights Act. Today, we had the opportunity to sit in cabinet and debate its amendment, further enhancing protections for children. It’s a privilege to work under a President with the vision to support such progressive changes.”
He expressed his emotions and pride at the advancements made, noting that the new provisions could not have been imagined two decades ago. The post included a “selfie” from the present day and an old photograph of their youthful advocacy efforts.
This momentous occasion marks a significant milestone for both Sengeh and Bah, as well as for the continued progress in child rights legislation in Sierra Leone
