Chief Minister, Dr. Moinina David Sengeh, has addressed on-going discussions surrounding his official title, whether it should be “Chief Minister” or “Prime Minister.”

In a social media video, Dr. Sengeh clarified that, despite occasionally being referred to as “Prime Minister” by President Julius Maada Bio, the title does not influence the work he carries out for the government.

Dr. Sengeh was appointed as Chief Minister by President Bio on July 10, 2023. He emphasized that his primary focus is on performing his duties rather than the title associated with his role.

“It doesn’t matter whether I’m called Prime Minister or Chief Minister. What matters is the work that I do,” Sengeh said, adding that he plays a central role in the coordination and delivery of government functions.

He further explained that titles are not a concern for him. “I don’t concern myself with titles. It is the portfolio that matters,” he stated. “My role is to lead coordination within the government, and I am fully committed to this task. Whether called Prime Minister or Chief Minister, it makes no difference.”

Dr. Sengeh also pointed out that different countries have varying titles for the individual in charge of government coordination. He noted that President Bio has entrusted him with this responsibility because of his humility and dedication to public service. “I am happy and enjoy the work I do every day. My focus is on delivering results for the people of Sierra Leone,” he concluded.

As Chief Minister, Dr. Sengeh continues to serve the government with a focus on effectiveness and coordination, regardless of the title bestowed upon him.
