During the weekly press conference held by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, Chief Minister David Sengeh provided a detailed comparison of road infrastructure developments under the current administration and the previous All Peoples Congress (APC) government.
Chief Minister Sengeh noted that the APC constructed a total of 432 kilometers of roads over its 11-year tenure. In contrast, President Julius Maada Bio’s administration has completed 442 kilometers of roads in just seven years, surpassing the previous government’s record despite having fewer years in office.
“The numbers speak for themselves,” Chief Minister Sengeh stated. “In just seven years, President Bio’s government has delivered more road infrastructure than the APC did in over a decade. This demonstrates our commitment to connectivity, economic growth, and national development.”
He emphasized that road development is critical not only for improving transport and mobility but also for boosting trade, agriculture, and access to social services across Sierra Leone. According to Chief Minister Sengeh, the Bio administration has prioritized high-impact projects linking rural communities with urban centers, facilitating inclusive growth and enhancing economic opportunities nationwide.
The comparison underscores the administration’s focus on accelerating infrastructure development, a key pillar of its broader agenda for national transformation. Citizens have welcomed the government’s efforts, noting tangible improvements in transportation and accessibility across the country.
Chief Minister Sengeh concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to continuing the expansion and rehabilitation of Sierra Leone’s road network, ensuring all regions benefit from enhanced connectivity.
