Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHRDI) has called on the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) to inform the public about serious sexual misconduct allegations involving a senior military officer and a female junior officer. The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
As of now, RSLAF has not issued any official statement regarding the alleged human rights violation, raising significant concerns among advocacy groups. CHRDI emphasizes the need for a thorough investigation, warning that a lack of transparency could undermine RSLAF’s credibility in handling sensitive issues.
The organization stresses that allegations of rape constitute serious human rights violations and should not be handled in secrecy. CHRDI stated that the public has a right to be informed about the status of the investigation—crucial for the rights of both the accused and the alleged victim.
In light of these developments, CHRDI urges RSLAF to conduct a transparent and fair investigation to uphold justice and accountability within the military.
