The Ministry of Information and Civic Education has concluded day one of its Civic Day Series in Falaba District, the second district engagement for 2026.

As part of it youth engagement segment, day one features a quiz and debate competition held at the District Council Hall in Mongo Bendugu

4 schools were brought together for the competitions: Morifindugu Secondary School Serekolia, St. George Secondary School, Ansarul Islamic Secondary School, and Karifaya Junior Secondary School.

After three rounds of competition, Alex Fakar Marah of St. George Secondary School emerged winner of the quiz with 32 points. Ibrahim Mansaray placed second, while Amie Kumara secured third place with 29 and 25 points respectively.

In the debate category, 3 schools took part and after two rounds of competition, Isatu Dabor of St. George Secondary School took first place with 15 points, followed by Poreh Kuria Kamara of Karifaya Junior Secondary School with 11 points, while Morie Foray Kumara of Morifindugu Secondary School Serekolia finished third.

Winners of both competitions received cash prizes, certificates, and school bags. First-place winners were awarded NLe 2000, while second and third-place winners received NLe 1500 and NLe 1000 respectively.

Top winners are expected to represent their districts in the Nationa Civic Quiz and Debate Competition in Freetown, December 2026.

The Civic Day Series continues on Tuesday, 24th March 2026, with a town hall meeting in the district.
