The Chairperson for the Unity Party and the Coalition of Progressive Political Parties (COPP), Femi Claudius Cole has blasted the Government of Sierra Leone for the violence perpetrated against politicians and supporters of the main opposition, the All People’s Congress (APC) party.
On Wednesday, there were various reports of violence meted out against politicians and supporters of the main opposition party during the welcoming parade of their newly elected flagbearer (Samura Kamara) in various parts of Freetown.
Reacting on social media, Claudius-Cole asked, ‘’June 24!! Where are you? Intimidation continues. Why?”
The Unity Party chairperson noted that there is a need to thoroughly inspect the democracy of Sierra Leone.
She ffurther told the government to wait for June 24 elections to get the result of their work from the people of Sierra Leone.
‘’If you have done well and the lives of your subjects have been improved drastically during your term, then you may relax, sleep well and wait patiently for polling day when you will receive a reward for all your good works and fantastic policies,’’ she stated.
‘’But beating up citizens is a sure sign of insecurity and fear. Did Apicians give you cold sweat? Don’t violate them, beat and arrest them. Just install more posters and please take your knee off democracy’s neck, for it is gasping for air, struggling to breathe.’’
