It was a great surprise to Guineans to read a post by the Vice President of Sierra Leone, Mr. Mamadou Djouldé Diallo, wherein he desperately lacks both good manner and consideration towards his Excellency the President of the Guinean Transition, Head of State, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya (reminding all the functions of Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya here is not accidental).
It is therefore with indignation and perplexity that Guineans read the discourteous statement of the Vice-President – which has gone viral on the web – after Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya’s official visit.
During this visit, he was given a fraternal and cordial welcome by his brother and friend, President Julius Maada Bio and the people of Sierra Leone.
After this very brotherly welcome, Guineans were stunned in their pride to read Mr Diallo’s post wherein he indicated that he had welcomed at the Kambia border… “the Guinean military chief, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, on a working visit to Sierra Leone…”.An obvious provocation that did not fail shocking all Guineans.
It is true that one should not respond to the kicking of the donkey, but however stubborn the donkey may be, it still needs a master to guide it.
We must therefore remind Mr Diallo that Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya is not a “military chief” but the Supreme Chief of the Guinean Armed Forces, Head of State and President of the Transition.
The status of Vice President of a border country to Guinea requires him to shake the cap of his pen ten times before choosing who he speaks to, about what and how, with the highest courteousness and not allowing himself to go beyond what is diplomatically permitted.
The excellent relations that bind Guinea and Sierra Leone, the Guinean People and the Leonean People, President Mamadi Doumbouya and President Julius Maada Bio, cannot be tainted by the actions of an isolated individual, even a Vice President who has fraudulently introduced himself into the history of this brotherly country.
Mr. Diallo’s post only shows the disdain and indignation that the Guinean people feel towards him, since others that do not honour him and confirm his viscerally pronounced ethnism that sticks to his skin and thereby reveals his true face.
Indeed, in one of his other statements in the run-up to the March 2018 presidential elections in Sierra Leone, he declared before his dumbfounded electorate that “if a Fulani becomes President in Senegal, Nigeria and Gambia, if a Fulani is not President here, we do not agree”. Better still, he asserted in the same community statement that if “a Fulani comes to power in Sierra Leone, I am sure that we can do it on the other side in Guinea”.
Ridiculous and disgraceful, this is how this miserable sire appears to us, naked as a worm and we can easily understand the reason for his position against the Guinean Head of State, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya.
At a time when we talk about pan-Africanism, unity and African cohesion, it is disappointing that an individual at such a high level of state and responsibility still uses such language. The African peoples will have to judge such a behavior at the right moment!
The Guinean and Leonean peoples in particular and Africans in general will always remain united and brotherly despite the divisions that all politicians who put themselves on the fringes of history and the evolution of peoples try to maintain!
