The Judiciary of Sierra Leone has received a high-profile delegation from the Commonwealth and discussed issues relating to the June 2023 elections.
Hon. Chief Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards received them in his chambers and they held fruitful discussions about the role of the judiciary in the upcoming general elections.
The team is headed by Prof. Luis Franceschi, Assistant Secretary General of the Commonwealth, for the rolled-out discussion on the preparedness and role of the judiciary in ensuring a peaceful coexistence at different levels in the election process.
The Chief Justice had explained the desired need to foster a common understanding of Sierra Leone’s Cyber security and Crime Act, 2021 earlier on in his keynote address at a 2-day symposium in Freetown. These and many other plans have been rolled out by the judiciary to ensure peaceful cohesion amongst citizens ahead of the June 2023 elections according to them.
