Minister Conrad Sackey, the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, has recently reiterated the government’s commitment to prioritizing access to education for school-going children over accommodating repeaters who have been out of the system for several years.
In a statement addressing the media during the weekly press conference on 9th April, 2024, Minister Sackey emphasized the importance of ensuring that the education system caters primarily to students entering school for the first time, rather than those who are reattempting exams after prolonged absences.
“We cannot afford to have more repeaters in the system than actual first-timers who deserve the space,” Minister Sackey asserted firmly. He highlighted the necessity of preserving educational opportunities for new students, ensuring that they have adequate resources and support to thrive within the education system.
Speaking specifically on the challenges posed by public examinations, Minister Sackey shed light on the persistent issues that have plagued the examination process. From logistical hurdles to concerns regarding exam integrity and fairness, the Minister acknowledged the multifaceted nature of the challenges faced by educational authorities.
However, Minister Sackey also outlined the proactive measures being undertaken by the government to address these perennial challenges. He emphasized the importance of comprehensive reforms aimed at streamlining the examination process, enhancing security measures to prevent cheating, and ensuring that the assessments accurately reflect students’ knowledge and capabilities.
Furthermore, Minister Sackey underscored the government’s commitment to investing in educational infrastructure and resources to support the administration of public exams effectively. By bolstering the capacity of educational institutions and providing educators with the necessary tools and training, the government aims to enhance the overall quality and integrity of the examination system.
Minister Conrad Sackey’s remarks underscore the government’s unwavering dedication to improving access to quality education while tackling the longstanding issues surrounding public examinations. Through strategic reforms and targeted interventions, the government aims to create a more equitable and robust educational system that empowers all students to succeed.
If government did not Carter for repeaters of WASSEC who then will pass WASSEC, because the WASSEC exams that I know it’s not easy for you to seat once and pass unless you repeat, so Mr minister if are saying that government should only focus on new fresher are you a good leader?
Hmmmmmmm mr minister my question here is what will be the fate of repeaters who may want to rewrite the exam again 😉 since you said government should not focus on them
Come to think of it….aaaaa salone na by God e grace we grow 🙏
.
Please sierraloaded some of this comment should be send to government officials for them to respond Please ,,👏👏
Absolutely Mr minister sorry to say that you not a good leader at all, with such kind of decision you are have took.
I support the decision, when we were taking the GCE, our parents were responsible for our fees n indeed we have so many pupils who did their very best to pass this Exams because how difficult it was for our parents. We studied very hard to pass. But now because Government is paying the fees, most pupils not all are not focusing on their studies because they believe in cheating to make the them pass which is wrong.
Good question are you a good leader? Please answer Mr minister.
Well arsure that repeter are more than the freshers
A government that brings free education is now unable to pay for repeaters. This is preposterous.
This is very clear, let government tell repeaters to pay their fees for themselves instead. Most of them are capable to afford to pay. What about those in private schools? Are they still victim to crisis?
what is the free quality education for after rejecting the repeaters . you people are flattering the citizen of this nation.
Mr: Minister he is just trying to have his daily bread , and that is why he said so.
