The main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) will today, 6th October, 2021 face the High Court, presided over by Justice Adrian Fisher to continue the substantive petition matter which was filed by Alfred Peter Conteh from the United States of America (USA).
The said petition matter commenced late last year for the current APC National Chairman and Leader and National Secretary General and executive to step aside. An interim injunction was then placed on the party by the presiding justice stopping them from holding any political activities until the court deemed otherwise.
However, in May and August this year, the presiding Justice issued out some variation orders for the APC to hold an emergency national delegate convention to adopt it new constitution, before the substantive legal matters will continue. After, successfully fulfilling the court orders, the hierarchy of the APC will now face the High Court to continue with the substantive matter or find ways of seeking an out-of-court settlement on the issue with Alfred Peter Conteh.
Speaking to this press, the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Sidi Yayah Tunis said that as the party is now preparing to go for lower-level elections, they will be in court to report to the judge how successfully the party carried out the variation and extension orders issued by the court for the adoption of the party’s new constitution, adding that the party successfully complied to 90% of the court orders, saved for some few delegate elections that were not conducted in some constituencies.
He promised that the court matter will not last long as they have held fruitful meetings with the plaintiff on the way forward for the main opposition party to secure State House in the forthcoming 2023 elections.
