Joseph Ellie Cooper, a student from Limkokwing University emerged winner of the Orange Digital Center Hackathon 2023 held at the National Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Fair (NYEEF) 2023 organized at the Freetown International Conference Center, At Bintumani in Aberdeen.
Joseph won a cash prize of NLe 7000 while the second and third position received NLe 5000 and NLe 3000 respectively and all three winners are given the opportunity to study any course of their choice at the Orange Digital Center for free.
While presenting the cheque to Joseph, Director of Orange Foundation, Madam Jestina starts by congratulating the winners stating that the money won by these contestants is just an added advantage but the most important is going through the process and the mentorship which is one of the greatest thing they always embarked on in helping the youths of the country.
She stated that if permitted by the contestants, they will make sure they help them make their dreams become reality as her team is dedicated to working with youths as there are lots of talented youths in the country.
Joseph expressed gratitude to Orange Digital Center for allowing him showcase his talent and emerge as the winner of the Orange Digital Center Hackathon 2023.
According to Joseph, his idea was a payment blogging that allows non-technical users to receive payment and make online payments using Orange Money which he calls ‘Zipzap’.
He continued that he is hoping and working his initiative will reach Sierra Leoneans as they will have the opportunity to make online payments through Orange Money
