During a recent press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Alpha Khan addressed concerns regarding the current nationwide curfew, emphasizing its significance in safeguarding the lives of Sierra Leoneans.

Khan asserted that the imposed curfew, initiated following an attempted coup that targeted the capital, played a pivotal role in uncovering and deterring assailants. He highlighted that the curfew aided security forces in thwarting the attack and apprehending numerous suspects.

Comparing the present curfew to a potential state of emergency, Khan underscored the curtailment of personal freedoms and potential suspensions of certain laws under a state of emergency.

State of Emergency or Curfew, which one do you prefer?” Khan questioned, asserting that while complaints about the curfew persist, it remains a preferable alternative to the stringent measures associated with a state of emergency.

Appealing to Sierra Leoneans for patience and understanding, Khan urged citizens to support the president’s efforts in preserving peace.

He emphasized that allowing the current measures to prevail would enable the president to execute his duties effectively during his second term in office, ultimately benefiting the people of Sierra Leone.
