Sierra Leone’s Minister of Basic Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), David Moinina Sengeh has stated that even though candidates need to have a National Identification Number (NIN) for WASSCE 2023, they do not need to go for it at the same time, noting that they have up to mid-December this year to get their unique numbers.
The Minister made this statement in response to large number of students that are gathering daily at the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) office in Freetown to secure their NIN.
In a post shared on Facebook, Minister Sengeh states that, “Yes, WASSCE candidates need an NIN. But they all don’t have to get it at the same time! They have up to mid-December to get their unique number. This is a social organization problem and a resource mobilization issue. Government will keep working to make these processes smooth but as citizens and parents, we can also help. Don’t skip school to get your NIN. Don’t send your entire school to get their NIN. Use the Saturday option provided by NCRA. Sorry about the chaos but together we can do this people!!!! And we will all be happy when we do!
