Global Afrobeats star Davido headlined the Gbamgbaode Festival in Freetown last night, taking the stage in a custom ensemble designed to showcase Sierra Leonean craftsmanship and cultural identity.
The performance outfit was the result of a collaboration between renowned stylist and designer Hollyandroo and the local fashion house Mumini Fashion Empire. According to the design team, the partnership aimed to merge the artist’s global brand with locally sourced materials and symbols of national pride.
The collaboration was initiated by Hollyandroo weeks prior to the event, with a specific focus on utilizing local production methods. The ensemble featured distinct elements from both designers:

The Jacket: Designed by Hollyandroo, the custom piece featured Davido’s name, his signature “30BG” insignia, and the Sierra Leone national flag.
The Pants and Hat: Crafted by Mumini Fashion Empire, these items were made using locally sourced raffia. They featured a heart motif inspired by the colors of the Sierra Leone flag.

Beyond the visual aesthetics, the design team emphasized the symbolic weight of the materials used. The inclusion of raffia was intended to represent sustainability and tradition, while the flag motifs highlighted national unity.
By sourcing materials and manufacturing the garments entirely within Sierra Leone, the collaboration highlighted the capabilities of the domestic fashion industry.
The project provided a platform for local artisans to display their work alongside a major international entertainer, underscoring the potential for Sierra Leonean designers to compete on the global stage.
