Minister of Works and Public Assets, Dr. Denis Sandy, and SLRA Director General, Ing Alfred Jalil Momodu, led a crucial pre-bidding meeting for the construction of the Tikonko-Kpetema-Mayoroh Junction-Serabu 38.1km road.
Dr. Sandy praised the pre-bid process, asserting that this road, deemed a high priority, signifies President Dr. Julius Maada Bio’s dedication to excellence. The road’s targeted completion by 2028 holds significant importance for SLRA and the Ministry of Works and Public Assets.
Accompanied by Deputy Madam Christiana Queen Fofanah, Minister Sandy actively participated in the pre-bidding process, expressing contentment with the substantial contractor turnout. Emphasizing its significance to President Bio, he encouraged contractors to maintain faith in the process and confidence in SLRA’s leadership, with bidding scheduled to commence in January. The stipulated 24-month completion period was underscored.
Ing Alfred Jalil Momodu, representing SLRA, highlighted the government’s central funding role for road construction, supported by partners such as BADEA, African Development Bank, European Union, and World Bank. Funds, secured in collaboration with BADEA, underscore the commitment to an open and competitive process, prioritizing value for money.
J.S Kaifala, Chairman of the SLRA Board of Directors, expressed delight in the pre-bidding process, emphasizing the road’s importance for President Bio, agriculture, and mining. The road facilitates access to Rutile, a key mining community, and farmland for residents in the south and east. Mr. Kaifala stressed the winning contractor’s adherence to contract documents and a professional approach throughout the project.
As the bidding process unfolds in January, the government’s commitment to transparent procurement and the road’s strategic importance remains at the forefront, aligning with President Bio’s vision for national development.
