A Freetown man who told the court he turned to smoking Kush after being deported from Spain has been arraigned on two counts of drug-related offences after police allegedly found 87 wraps of the substance in his possession.
Mohamed Kabba, a professional driver, appeared before a magistrate on charges of unlawful possession of Kush and dealing in prohibited drugs, contrary to Sections 8 and 7(c) of the National Drugs Control Act, 2008 (Act No. 10 of 2008).
Prosecutors allege that on 14 November 2025, at Mandiama PWD, Kissy Brook in Freetown, Kabba was found with 87 wraps of Kush weighing 60.9 grams without lawful authority.
During proceedings, Kabba told the court that his use of the substance began after his deportation from Spain, citing frustration and difficulties reintegrating into society.
Forensic toxicologist Joseph Lahai, testifying for the prosecution, said physical examinations were conducted on the seized substance to determine its characteristics. His testimony was aimed at establishing the nature of the substance and supporting the evidentiary process.
The matter continues before the court.
