Dr. Eldred Taylor, Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) East Rural District Chairman and Deputy Minister of Energy 1, visited Mabureh on Sunday to donate road construction equipment in a strong show of support for local development.
The donation event, held at the Old Trafford Playing Ground, highlighted Dr. Taylor’s commitment to improving infrastructure and community services in the East Rural District.
Responding to an invitation from Mabureh’s Zonal Executive, Dr. Taylor addressed a gathering of local leaders, SLPP supporters, and residents, reinforcing his dedication to community advancement. Zonal Public Relations Officer Dauda Kamara welcomed Dr. Taylor, lauding his impact on Mabureh and emphasizing that his leadership has been instrumental in solidifying SLPP’s influence in the district.
During the event, Councillor Isata Koroma praised Dr. Taylor’s support for women’s empowerment initiatives, noting the establishment of a village bank in line with President Bio’s Big Five Agenda. Koroma also outlined challenges in the district, calling for further government intervention in addressing local issues.
Amadu M. Bangura, Headman of Mabureh Community, echoed the community’s gratitude, referring to Dr. Taylor as the “Architect of Development” for East Rural District. Bangura proposed that a future bridge in the area be named in Dr. Taylor’s honor as a testament to his contributions.
In his keynote address, Dr. Taylor extended greetings on behalf of President Bio and thanked Mabureh residents for their unwavering support during the recent election. Addressing youth, he urged them to uphold SLPP values and steer clear of divisive rhetoric. Dr. Taylor also outlined upcoming initiatives for Mabureh, including plans for a water well, a microfinance program, and support for the proposed bridge.
The event concluded with Dr. Taylor presenting the community with several wheelbarrows, shovels, and pickaxes for road construction, along with sports jerseys, fertilizers, and funds to enhance community entertainment activities.
