Madam Fatmata Wurie, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, has led a delegation from the Ministry of Trade and Industry on several business meetings with potential investors. This came during her stay in China for the sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) which was hosted in Shanghai from November 5th to November 10th, 2023.
The China International Import Expo (CIIE) is a trade fair hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. This is one of the biggest trade fairs in China.
In one of her investment meetings with the Bairong World Trade Centre which is the largest investment group in the world located in Zhengzhou City, Northern part of China, she explained, “I made a presentation on Sierra Leone’s potential for investment group on 10 thematic areas that are in-line with H.E. President Julius Maada Bio’s “Big Five” Manifesto.”
She added that they had a fruitful discussion and they invited them to Sierra Leone to invest. “The Bairong World largest Investment group showed their eagerness to come to Sierra Leone by the end of 2023,” Madam Wurie disclosed, pointing out that “this official trade and investment agreement is said to create many job opportunities for the people of Sierra Leone and boost the economy through export promotion.”
The China International Import Expo (CIIE) is a trade fair hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. The CIIE is one of the biggest trade fairs in China and is designed to promote trade between China and other countries.
The CIIE was first held in 2018 and has been held annually since then. The CIIE is expected to continue to be an important event for promoting trade between China and other countries.
