The Director of Communication at te National Disaster Management Agency, Mohamed Bah has explained their mitigation plans on flooding in Freetown.
He stated that the seasonal outlook which is released by the Metropolitan Agency has been a major tool they have been using over the years to guide their preparedness mechanisms in the area of flooding.
He said the seasonal outlook by Metropolitan Agency has showed increase downpours on specific days in July, August, and September.
He said through their Freetown mitigation strategy, they have been engaging communities, supplying them tools and identify drainages covered with dirts .
He also stated that they are partnering with other stakeholder’s like the military because they have more advanced machines to clear drainages to have easy flow of water whenever I rains.
