On September 15, 2025, Dr. Imambay Kamara, Founder and President of the Disabled International Foundation UK/Sierra Leone, paid a distinguished courtesy visit to Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H.E. Dr. Morie Komba Manyeh, and Deputy High Commissioner Mrs. Yvonne King Odigboh at the Sierra Leone High Commission in London.
During this important meeting, Dr. Kamara presented awards of recognition to both diplomats, acknowledging their unwavering support and dedication to the Foundation’s mission. The awards symbolize appreciation for their leadership in championing the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities.
In her remarks, Dr. Kamara commended the High Commissioner and Deputy High Commissioner for their encouragement, highlighting how their advocacy continues to inspire her and her team to intensify efforts toward inclusion and empowerment both in Sierra Leone and the UK.
This visit follows the Foundation’s recent celebration of its 25th Silver Jubilee, marking a quarter-century of dedicated service and advocacy. Over the years, the Disabled International Foundation has made significant contributions in Sierra Leone—establishing schools, caring for orphans, and providing vital support to persons living with disabilities. Its ongoing focus remains on education, empowerment, and dignity for society’s most vulnerable.
High Commissioner Dr. Manyeh expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Foundation’s impactful work, stating, “Disabled International Foundation has been a shining light for Sierra Leone. Through its schools, care programs, and advocacy, it has transformed countless lives and brought hope to our most vulnerable citizens.”
He also praised Dr. Kamara’s “vision and resilience,” assuring her of the High Commission’s continued support in her noble endeavors.
Deputy High Commissioner Mrs. Yvonne King Odigboh echoed these sentiments, saying, “We are deeply honored to receive this recognition. The work of Disabled International Foundation embodies the best of Sierra Leone’s spirit—compassion, dedication, and service.”
She commended Dr. Kamara for her efforts in uplifting and empowering disabled and vulnerable Sierra Leoneans.
The brief yet meaningful ceremony underscored the strong partnership between the Sierra Leone High Commission and the Disabled International Foundation in advancing opportunities and protections for persons with disabilities, reaffirming a shared commitment to fostering an inclusive society.
