Leaked document from an inside source has confirmed to this medium that Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma’s health condition is deteriorating since his involvement in an alleged coup d’etat, and if he is not flown out for proper medical attention, might deteriorate further.

According to the document written by renowned cardiologist Dr. Jibao Russell, over the last three years, former President Koroma has been battling with hypertension, diabetes and cardiac problems. But over the last two months since his alleged involvement in a coup, his health condition has worsened.

The popular medical doctor’s report indicates that former President Ernest Bai Koroma has been having severe chest pain lately and requires a medical procedure that cannot be done in Sierra Leone. According to the report, the former president risks having a severe heart attack if he is not immediately treated for the said ailments.

A judicial source has also intimated this medium that President Bio has been told of the former president’s medical condition and has felt pity for him. The usually impeccable source said President Bio’s humane and compassionate nature moved him into asking that his predecessor be given all the medical help he requires including flying him out for treatment.

This suggestion made by the current president, has ignited a debate amongst circles, with some saying that the state prosecutors of the Ernest Bai Koroma case, will not object to the bail application made by his lawyers earlier. If this is the case, then the court might grant the application made by Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara and Co, on behalf of Ernest Bai Koroma for him to be given bail on medical grounds.

President Bio does not want to interfere into the legal procedure, but is also not averse to the idea of granting bail to Ernest Bai Koroma since his health is fading.
