Both the caretaker and security guard to Ikubolaje Nicol General Manager at Sky Bank, on Wednesday 28th December 2022 testified in the ongoing preliminary investigation into the alleged murder case against him.
Police say the accused Bola Nicol conspired with other persons unknown to murder Sinnah Kai Kargbo. He is facing three counts charges of conspiracy to murder, murder contrary to law and perverting the course of justice contrary to law.
Led in evidence by State Counsel, A. J. M. Bockarie, the Fourth prosecution witness, Salifu Bangura, caretaker of the accused disclosed that he had known the accused for the past nine years, adding that he resides at the same address with the accused at No. 1 Nicol Drive, Leicester Village.in Freetown.
Bangura recalled that on the 16th of October 2022, around 6 am, the security guard called his attention to say the accused wanted to see him.
Bangura told the Court that he went upstairs, adding that he met a woman coming down the stairs, whom he could not recognise. The witness maintained that he had never seen that woman before.
He continued that when he got to the top of the stairs he met the security guard, Ibrahim Sorie Mustapha and the deceased whose name he does not know.
The witness added that he met the deceased lying helplessly, adding that he had known the woman for the past four years. When State Counsel suggested that the deceased name is Sinnah, he then recall and told the Court that he is familiar with the name. Bangura disclosed that he met the deceased naked.
The witness, Bangura furthered that the deceased had an attack, adding that the accused asked him and other domestic staff to carry the deceased to Shuman Hospital. He narrated that when they arrived at Shuman Hospital the deceased was placed in a wheelchair into the hospital. “A few minutes later, we received information that the deceased had died,” he testified.
Bangura also told the Court that the accused handed over the car keys to him, while he headed to the house of the deceased relatives. “After the hospital declared that the deceased had died.
I and the accused driver, Maada placed the corpse inside the vehicle and we drove to Columbia Davis, where the mortuary attendants carried her and placed her inside the morgue,” he disclosed.
The witness also mentioned that he, the accused father, and the accused daughter, showed up at the house later on, but he could not tell the reason for their visit to the accused premises. Bangura mentioned that before long, the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) showed up at the premises.
Bangura told the Court that the SLP searched the entire house for about an hour. “After the search, the SLP carried all of us to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID),” he revealed.
After the witness testimony, Defense Counsel lawyer Roland Wright told the Bench that he hadn’t any questions for the witness.
Fifth prosecution witness, Ibrahim Sorie, a night security guard at the accused’s premises recalled that on the 16th of October 2022, he reported for duty at the accused premises, adding that he did not meet the police Mustapha and Sandy (domestic staff) on duty.
Sorie disclosed that he had known the accused for the past year and eight months. Sorie told the Bench that in the morning hours of the 16th of October 2022, the accused requested assistance to carry a lady that was shivering. “We dressed her up and carried her to the Shuman Hospital,” he explained.
Sorie disclosed that he is stationed at a post behind the house, adding that he did not see anybody leave the house while he was on duty, except the accused who came to the house between 8 am and 9 am
During cross-examination by lawyer Roland Wright, the witness told the Court that there is a footpath at the gate where someone can walk through. The witness said he could not have seen anybody sneak out of the house at the time he went to answer the call of his boss.
Magistrate Marke Ngegba has adjourned the matter to the 5th of December 2022, whiles the accused person remains in custody.
