The Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has officially commenced a series of high-level strategic engagements with political parties, government institutions, and international partners aimed at strengthening electoral integrity ahead of the 2028 General Elections.
The initiative, which marks the beginning of early preparations for the next electoral cycle, is intended to enhance coordination among key stakeholders and reinforce confidence in Sierra Leone’s electoral process.
According to the Chief Electoral Commissioner (CEC), the engagements are designed to promote transparency, professionalism, and inclusivity in the build-up to the 2028 polls.
“Our goal in these engagements is to ensure absolute professionalism and transparency,” the CEC stated. “By engaging our partners early, we are building the foundation of trust necessary for a credible 2028 electoral cycle.”
The Commission further indicated that the consultations will provide a platform to address concerns raised by stakeholders, clarify operational plans, and update partners on its level of preparedness for the upcoming elections.
ECSL emphasized that the process will also align electoral preparations with international best practices, with the broader objective of ensuring free, fair, and credible elections in 2028.
