Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL), Edmond Sylvester Alpha, has extended warm greetings to Muslims and all Sierra Leoneans, both at home and in the diaspora, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan 2026.

In a statement released today, Chairman Alpha described Eid-ul-Fitr as a time for spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and devotion, noting that the holy month of Ramadan calls on individuals to cleanse their hearts, elevate their character, and reaffirm commitment to shared values.

Through fasting, prayer, and acts of charity, we are reminded that life is both a blessing and a responsibility-one that demands compassion, service, and integrity,” the ECSL Chairman said.

He emphasized that virtues nurtured during Ramadan, such as patience, humility, tolerance, and generosity, should continue to guide actions beyond the holy month.

Chairman Alpha also paid tribute to the sacrifices made during Ramadan, including prayers offered in solitude, resilience in hardship, and generosity toward the less fortunate, describing these acts as embodying the true spirit of faith and humanity.

He expressed his sincere hope that such efforts would be rewarded with peace, divine protection, and abundant blessings for individuals, families, and the nation.

In his message, the ECSL Chairman called for renewed unity, strengthened national cohesion, and a sense of collective responsibility among all citizens.

He encouraged Sierra Leoneans to build on the spiritual gains of Ramadan by fostering stronger family bonds, promoting mutual respect, and upholding justice, fairness, and peaceful coexistence, highlighting the connection between national progress and shared commitment to unity and inclusivity.

Let this season be defined by forgiveness, compassion, and meaningful acts of kindness that uplift the vulnerable and strengthen our communities,” Chairman Alpha said, urging all to embrace the essence of Eid with humility, gratitude, and generosity.

The ECSL Chairman’s message aligns Sierra Leone with the broader global Muslim community in celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr, a festival that marks the end of a month-long period of fasting and spiritual reflection.
