The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority has announced that the 33KV distribution network in Freetown will be temporarily isolated to facilitate the installation of support structures at the Freetown 161 Substation.
The isolation of the network is necessary to ensure the safety and efficiency of the installation work.
Starting on Thursday, July 6, 2023, between the hours of 10am and 5pm, the technical team will begin their work. As a result of this activity, residents in certain areas may experience power outages for protection and safety reasons.
The affected areas include Wilberforce, Regent, Goderich to Sussex, Wellington unto Waterloo, and Roportee.
The primary objective of this undertaking is to complement and strengthen the ongoing 33kV Distribution Network Upgrade project, which aims to enhance the electricity supply to the extreme east and west areas of Freetown. The completion of this upgrade project is expected to significantly improve electricity supply to the aforementioned areas.
Recognizing the inconvenience this situation may cause to its valued customers, the Authority sincerely apologizes and assures affected residents that the work will be completed within the designated time frame of 10am to 5pm. The technical team is committed to ensuring minimal disruption and a prompt restoration of power once the installation work is finished.
