The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has announced a comprehensive SWITCH-ON TESTING of the transmission system along the Northern corridor, starting today, December 23, 2024.
This initiative will impact several towns and villages, including Sewafeh, Go Town, and other settlements along the Kono-Mansingbi highway, as well as the Koidu Township and the Octea Mining area.
According to Ing Mohamed Sillah, Public Relations Officer of EDSA, the testing will involve the advanced Bikongor high-power Substation Network, which is crucial for enhancing the overall electrical distribution network. As a result, temporary power interruptions are expected in Koidu Township and the Octea Mining area.
EDSA has apologized for the inconvenience these disruptions may cause to residents and businesses in the affected areas. The authority emphasized that their team is committed to minimizing the duration of the interruptions and will work quickly to restore services.
“This testing process is vital for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our electrical services,” said Ing Sillah. “We appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation as we continue to improve the quality of power supply to our valued customers.”
EDSA assured the public that it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
