The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has announced a power outage affecting several communities in Freetown following a technical fault on the 33kV transmission line.
In a public notice issued on Friday, January 30, 2026, EDSA said the outage was caused by a technical glitch resulting from cut wires along the 33kV line. The affected areas include Wilberforce, Regent, Lumley, Juba, Juba Hill, Goderich, Mile 13, Sussex, and Spur Road.
According to the Authority, inspection teams have already identified the fault, and repair and maintenance works commenced on Friday, January 30, 2026. The utility company assured customers that efforts are underway to restore power supply as quickly as possible.
EDSA apologized to residents and businesses in the affected communities for the inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their patience and understanding while repair works continue. The Authority also reaffirmed its commitment to improving service delivery.
