The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) (Sierra Leone) has reportedly made a request to the Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission to increase the tariff of electricity by over 100%.
Gleaner Newspaper reported that, EDSA requested that the Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission, increase the electricity tariff from 11cents to 23cents.
This comes soon after the government increased the pump prices of petroleum products from twenty five new Leones to thirty new Leones, which is by 20% increment.
This is the second time in one month, the country has experienced increase in the prices of petroleum products by the government.
The old pump price of fuel which stood at twenty five (25) new Leones was also raised from twenty two (22) new Leones in early August.
EDSA, what is wrong with you. Government just increased fuel by 20% and you are asking for over 100% increment in electricity tariffs? Why are you people being this wicked? Do you think money is a stone that we could pick from the ground?
This is a declaration of war on consumers and we are not going to take this lying down. We are ready to go without electricity. If you increase electricity tariffs, we consumers will not pay for electricity until you do the needful. The ball is now in your court. Go ahead and increase electricity tariffs and see what consumers will do.
The illegitimate Bio government is on a PR offensive, thinking just because they claim they are doing a wonderful job and that things are okay, that we will believe them, but reality will get in the way of their plans. Fuel prices are up and I predict it will be up again soon..The continued increase in fuel prices will lead to price increases in food and all that will worsen the lot of the people. They claim inflation last month was 44%. That is a number that is too high as it is, but is not true, it is higher. We will see what they say it is in August. Just two months since he ordered the Chief Justice to rush and swear him in after they stole the elections and look at the failure? We people dae suffer
