The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has announced a temporary reduction in power supply affecting Kenema, Bo, Kono, and Freetown due to emergency maintenance and the commissioning of a new substation along the CLSG-Transco line.
In a statement released today, 21st June, 2025, EDSA confirms that the maintenance is expected to last for three weeks, emphasising that the importance of the maintenance is for the overall improvement of power services in the region.
To alleviate the impact of the reduced power supply, the Authority has reportedly secured a Power Purchase Agreement with Guinea. The agreement aims to enhance electricity supply to Sierra Leone during the maintenance period.
EDSA reiterated its commitment to ensuring an equitable distribution of the available power and is implementing accurate load shedding measures to minimise inconvenience to residents.
The Authority also confirmed that they are currently working to operationalise other power sources to further support the affected areas.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve our services,” the statement concluded.
