Residents in several communities in the western part of Freetown should expect planned power interruptions this week as the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) carries out emergency preventive maintenance.
EDSA issued a public notice on September 30, 2025, informing customers that the outages will occur on Wednesday, October 1, and Thursday, October 2, 2025.
The affected communities are Wilberforce, Goderich, and Sussex.
Power will be interrupted for five hours daily, running from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on both days.
The maintenance activity involves the installation of protected relays on the W/F 33 KV panel at the Freetown 161 KV Power Station.
EDSA stated that the preventive maintenance is critical, noting that the work will “enhance efficiency and availability of the 33kV transmission line,” thereby improving the reliability of power supply, particularly for the far west of Freetown.
The utility company apologized for any inconvenience caused by the necessary interruption and assured the public that its team is committed to completing the activity within the estimated timeframe.
EDSA also commended the public for their continued understanding and cooperation.
