The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) of Sierra Leone has issued a public warning about fraudulent activities involving individuals impersonating the agency and demanding unauthorized payments or “tokens.”

In a notice dated 24th December 2025, the EPA identified one such individual as Daniel K. Serry, who has reportedly been harassing proponents.

The agency clarified that:

It does not accept or request bribes or tokens from proponents.

All Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) fees are calculated using standardized matrices.

Payments are accepted only through official banking channels, with full records maintained for audit and accountability.

The EPA emphasised that it is committed to carrying out its duties with integrity and efficiency and will not resort to extortion or make unauthorized demands.

The public has been urged not to engage with fraudulent actors and to report any suspicious activity immediately by submitting a formal letter to the EPA or calling its toll-free line at 1999 (Orange network).

The agency reaffirmed its dedication to protecting Sierra Leone’s environment and promoting sustainable development across the country.
