In a posting to the effect, Dr. Edwin Momoh stated: “we take full responsibility….We like all other institution in Sierra Leone may have been inadvertent to n Admitting persons with these degrees the but once it was made clear….action had been taken to revoke admission of these persons…”
The Satellite Newspaper reveals that It could be recalled that last April, a Sierra Leonean researcher, Dr. John Idriss Lahai alerted the nation to a long running scheme of conferring fake Master’s and PhD degrees on Sierra Leoneans. The issue has since dominated the Sierra Leoneans social media platform and caused frenzy reactions from some of the the affected people, other Sierra Leoneans living from within and without.
The Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) through the Minister of Information and communication, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, has urged all recipients of Doctors of philosophy (PhD) and other degrees from the Dominion Christian University (DCU) and the African Graduate University (AGU) to renounce them forthwith.
“…anyone who attended these universities should do the needful by renouncing these degress acquired from these universities, “Mr. Swaray said.
The Minister furthered that the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) has been very clear that nobody would use those qualifications to access opportunities in this country. He said as a government with focus on human capital, we have officially repeatedly informed the general public that Dominion and AGU are not recognized universities in Sierra Leone..
Masters and PHD are globally recognised post graduate academic degrees awarded by Universities and higher education institutions to a candidate that has submitted a thesis or dissertation based on extensive and original research in chosen fields.
