Reports reaching this press have intimated that plans are underway for a peaceful and safe return of former President Ernest Bai Koroma to his home country, Sierra Leone after a protracted stay in Abuja, Nigeria on medical grounds.

According to reliable sources, discussions regarding the former president’s return have begun by West African heads of State, headed by the Nigeria President, Bola Tinubu.

If everything goes on as planned, sources say, former President Koroma will be accompanied back home in October, this year by both former and present West Africa Heads of States.

It could be recalled that the former President had during a meeting with a delegation from the All Peoples Congress (APC) in Abuja on Monday, 10th February 2025 announced his plans to return home after an extended period of medical treatment in Nigeria.

Koroma, who has been on medical leave since January 2024, expressed his gratitude for the improvement in his health, which has enabled his decision to return to Sierra Leone. The former President, who led the APC during his tenure, shared his intentions with the visiting delegation, marking the second time he has publicly stated his desire to come back home.

In another development, President Koroma was recently among his friends and peers in Nigeria during the launch of President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida’s first book, ‘A Journey In Service’.

Also in attendance were, Presidents Yakubu Gowan, Olusengun Obasanjo, Abdul-Salam Abubakarr, Goodluck Jonathan, Muhammed Buharie was represented by his former Transport Minister, Ghana’s immediate past president, William Nana Addo Akufor-Addo, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Nigerian Vice Presidents Atiku Abubakarr, and Yemi Osinbajo, among others.

The event also attracted governors and senators, business tycoons like Aliko Dangote, Prince Arthur Eze, Tony Elumelu, among others.
