Four hundred Okada Riders in Bo have each benefited from three liters of petrol provided by the Executive Chairman of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA), Brima Baluwa Koroma on Sunday 21 August 2022.
The fuel was distributed at the NP Fuel Station Njalu Road Junction in Bo.
Brima Baluwa Koroma affirmed he thought it fit to assist Okada riders in Bo with fuel as part of the government’s commitment to supporting young people.
He added price of fuel has increased all over the world but PRA being a responsible institution has reduced pump price in Sierra Leone to Le18.
He informed the rumor going around that the price of fuel has been reduced to Le15 is untrue and called on the public to listen to PRA if there is a further decrease in fuel price as his institution will inform the public as it has always been doing.
When asked by journalists whether such an opportunity will be extended to other riders outside Bo, Mr. Koroma replied, “Yes I will give similar support to okada riders in other parts of the country when God blesses me.
Brima Baluwa Koroma warned the riders to avoid violence and concentrate on their trade which gives them their daily bread.
Making a statement, the Resident Minister South, Mohamed E.K Ali said the Bio-led Government is a responsible administration that cares for its people.
He added the petrol the PRA Boss has provided for the riders will help to earn them a living.
The Regional Vice Chairman for Bike riders Union South, Sorie Saccoh said as a union they are deeply grateful to Mr. Brima Baluwa Koroma for the support that he has given to his riders.
“We invited them to our office. As they come so we give out the coupon for them to collect the petrol for their bikes. It is a first come first serve basis”, he said.
He called on his members to remain peaceful.
An Okada Rider, Mohamed Jalloh said the petrol given to them freely has boosted them. He confessed that since he started riding okada for the past 10 years he has never been given such assistance before.
The beneficiaries thanked President Bio for appointing Brima Baluwa Koroma as the Executive Chairman of PRA.
