Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Maada Bio, recently joined President Dr. Julius Maada Bio in a meeting with leaders of the Sierra Leonean diaspora community.

The session provided a platform for the government to engage with citizens living abroad and discuss issues related to national development and unity.

President Bio highlighted the role of the diaspora, stating that they are “not just an extension of our nation, but a vital part of our national progress.” He also emphasized the administration’s commitment to strengthening ties with Sierra Leoneans overseas, recognizing their contributions to the country’s economy, social development, and international profile.

Participants discussed key priorities, including investment, youth and women empowerment, and ways to improve collaboration between the diaspora and government institutions.

Describing the meeting as inspiring, First Lady Fatima Maada Bio noted the passion and commitment shown by diaspora leaders.

She affirmed that the ideas and support of Sierra Leoneans living abroad remain important to the nation’s growth and development.
