The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Bio, recently attended the dedication ceremony of St. Elizabeth of Hungary/Daniel Catholic Church in Aberdeen, Freetown.
As a Muslim woman married to His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, a Catholic, her presence at the event highlighted the importance of interfaith harmony and unity.
During the ceremony, the First Lady received a prestigious award in recognition of her significant contributions and generosity towards the Catholic Church.
In her acceptance remarks, she underscored the symbolic nature of the award, which she described as transcending religious boundaries and fostering collective efforts toward building bridges between faiths.
“This acknowledgment is not merely personal; it symbolises a collective effort towards building bridges between faiths,” she stated. “By coming together to celebrate milestones like this, we pave the way for future generations to inherit a world characterised by tolerance and compassion.”
First Lady Fatima Bio expressed her gratitude to the Catholic community, appreciating their recognition and extending her blessings to all.
She emphasized that moments like this serve as a reminder of the power of unity and shared humanity.
Some humans trying to separate religion from politics, for where? Is all about hypocrisy. Politics in churches, in jails in bedrooms, politics everywhere so stop fooling the youths and the innocent citizens we are tired of thieves with ties be around tîheir necks.
