Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Maada Bio has appealed for calm as investigations continue into the death of Sia Fatu Kamara, a communications executive at the Freetown City Council.

In a video on Monday, Madam Bio acknowledged the numerous messages she has received from concerned citizens urging her to intervene in the case to ensure Sia’s family receives justice.

Kamara’s death was reported late week under mysterious circumstances whilst rumors suggested that her passing was due to domestic violence.

Sources indicate that the autopsy results for Sia show that seven of her ribs were reportedly broken and her spinal cord was damaged. Abdul Kpaka, her boyfriend is alleged to be the prime suspect.

First Lady Bio expressed her commitment to thoroughly reviewing the case’s documents, emphasizing her desire to learn the truth about Sia’s death. “I have taken the time to follow up on the matter and gather various documents related to her death,” she said.

Bio urged the family of the deceased to be patient and the public to avoid jumping to conclusions while the police investigate. “We must give the authorities the space they require to carry out their work and reach their conclusions,” she said.

Madam Bio reaffirmed her commitment to staying involved with the ongoing investigation and advocating for justice for Sia Kamara, whom she described tragic incident has not only captured the nation’s attention, but it has also raised serious concerns about domestic violence.
