The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Bio, has lauded Vice President Dr. Mohammed Juldeh Jalloh for his instrumental role in securing the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact for the country.

In a statement released today, the First Lady expressed her gratitude to the Vice President and his team, including the Minister of Finance, Fantamady Bangura, and other key government officials, for their tireless efforts in achieving this significant milestone.

“Your leadership has made the difference we needed to see our nation achieve the MCC,” she said. “Thanks to you and your team, Sierra Leone has won a victory that will benefit millions of our citizens.”

The MCC Compact, valued at $480 million, is designed to expand and strengthen the country’s national transmission backbone, increase access to electricity in major towns, and improve the sector’s financial viability.

The First Lady praised the Vice President for his visionary leadership and his ability to deliver results without fanfare. “Dr. Juldeh Jalloh, we are grateful for your dedication and commitment to the progress of our nation,” she added.

The MCC Compact is expected to benefit over 4 million Sierra Leoneans and will create opportunities for economic development by increasing the availability of affordable and reliable electricity.
