First Lady Fatima Bio has said the proportional representation system upheld by the Supreme Court on Friday will give opportunities for inclusion which will enable the country to enjoy true stability and development.

Fatima Bio also stated that even though she is a member of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), her favourite colour is red which coincidentally is the colour of the main opposition party, All People’s Congress (APC) and that she is not defined by colour but by policies that will shape the country.

The First Lady made this statement in a post on Facebook while reacting to the Supreme Court ruling on the PR system case.

She said the PR system is an opportunity that allows minor communities to be represented even if their representatives are not from the established major political parties and help remove the monopoly in the parliament of Sierra Leone.

She further stated that women must take advantage of the platforms enabled by the President and the Judiciary System, enjoined them to grab the opportunity to be members of parliament, represents women well, and bring out issues affecting women to be debated for lasting solutions.
