First Lady Dr. Fatima Jabbie Maada Bio’s, expressed admiration over the resilience efforts of women, who converged from different parts of Sierra Leone to celebrate her election as President of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).
The vibrant event, who took place on Monday, 28th April, 2025, highlighted the strength and resilience of women standing together in support and solidarity.
Dr. Bio, reflecting on the significance of the occasion, stated, “This celebration demonstrated the strength of women supporting the success of another woman, standing in solidarity and recognising this achievement not merely as a personal accomplishment but as a triumph for our entire country.”
The gathering, which featured traders and leaders across the nation, marked a festive march in honor of Dr. Bio’s new leadership role. The First Lady took the opportunity to express her heartfelt gratitude to key figures who played an essential role in the event’s success, including the Deputy Minister of Trade, Madam Fatmata Kamara, and the National President for Market Women in Sierra Leone, Madam Gina.
“Let me use this special moment to express my heartfelt thanks to Madam Fatmata Kamara, the Deputy Minister of Trade, Madam Gina, the National President for Market Women SL, and to the traders from across the country whose efforts made the event a remarkable success,” Dr. Bio added.
