Another fire has hit Freetown this time at Ashobi Corner, BlackHall Road destroying several homes and properties.

The incident adds to a growing number of fire outbreaks across the country in recent weeks.

A source at the scene said the light kept coming and going before the fire started. He described it as “bad light” and believes it may have triggered the disaster. He also mentioned poor electrical connections in the area as another likely cause.

The source is calling on the government and the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) to carry out inspections in communities to check how power connections are done.

“We can’t keep living like this. The light goes off and on anytime, and it’s dangerous,” he said.

So far, the number of houses and properties affected has not been confirmed. No injuries have been reported.

Residents in the area are now left counting their losses and are calling for urgent action to stop more fires from happening in other parts of the city.
