Former Attorney General and prominent All People’s Congress (APC) presidential aspirant Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara has added his voice to mounting political pressure on the government, demanding clarity on President Julius Maada Bio’s location amid persistent rumors that the president is stranded abroad.

In pointed social media posts, Kamara expressed concern over reports that President Bio faces difficulties overseas while criticizing the administration’s silence as unacceptable. “Reports that President Bio is in a difficult situation abroad are deeply troubling. Our thoughts are with his safety, but this uncertainty is unacceptable,” Kamara wrote. “Govt must clarify his location and condition. The public deserves transparency. Like Scooby-Doo, where are you Mr President ?”

The former law officer, who served as Attorney General from 2007 to 2008, did not stop at demanding a basic status update. In a subsequent post, Kamara issued a cryptic remark that seemed to allude to the geopolitical rumors surrounding the President’s alleged predicament.

“He who ignores repeated warnings and feels untouchable may eventually find himself trapped by the very dangers he once dismissed,” Kamara wrote.

While Kamara did not explicitly name the “dangers” or “warnings,” his statement closely tracks with the unverified claims circulated by other opposition figures—namely, that President Bio traveled secretly to Dubai and is currently unable to return due to the escalating military conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Kamara’s comments follow similar calls from opposition politician Sylvia Blyden, who on Monday urged the government to break its silence on the president’s whereabouts. Blyden noted that competing rumors suggest President Bio may be in Lebanon seeking medical treatment rather than in Dubai, where opposition figure Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray first alleged the president was stranded due to escalating Middle East tensions .

“I have never discussed movements of President with First Lady. Never!” Blyden emphasized, distancing herself from any suggestion she possesses inside information through her friendship with First Lady Fatima Bio. “There are lines never crossed in our sisterhood”.

The growing demands for transparency come as official channels indicate President Bio has remained diplomatically engaged. According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), President Bio spoke by phone on March 2 with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, condemning recent Iranian attacks on the Gulf nation and affirming Sierra Leone’s solidarity with the UAE. The UAE leader has held similar consultations with numerous world leaders following the regional escalation, including US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

However, neither the UAE reports nor Sierra Leonean state media have confirmed the president’s physical location or addressed claims that he may be unable to return to the country. The Government of Sierra Leone and the Office of the President have issued no official statement regarding President Bio’s travel movements or the allegations of him being stranded.

The regional crisis that has fueled speculation about the president’s situation intensified following Iranian retaliatory strikes launched in response to a joint US-Israeli assault on Iran.

Reports indicate damage at Dubai International Airport and casualties in the UAE, with three people killed and dozens injured across Gulf states. The conflict has led to widespread flight disruptions throughout the region.
