The former Chief Electoral Commissioner of Sierra Leone, Mohamed N’fah Alie Conteh, has taken his wife, Agnes Shella Kumba Conteh, to court in a private civil case.

According to Global Times Newspaper, Mr. Conteh filed the lawsuit at the High Court in Freetown, where the matter is being presided over by Justice Cosmotina Jarrett. Although the specific details of the case have not yet been made public, it is confirmed to be a personal dispute between the couple.

At the latest hearing, held this week, Mr. Conteh was present in court. However, the respondent his wife did not appear. Mr. Conteh’s lawyer told the court that she is currently out of the country. Because of her absence, the lawyer requested an adjournment in order to apply for substituted service a legal process used when someone cannot be personally served court documents.

Justice Cosmotina Jarrett granted the application and adjourned the matter to Tuesday, May 13, 2025, when the court is expected to consider the request for substituted service.

The case remains ongoing.
