Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, the Mayor of Freetown, has issued a call to all residents of the city, urging them to fulfill their civic responsibilities by promptly paying their property rates and business licenses.
She emphasized that active participation in these payments is crucial for driving the ongoing transformation efforts in Freetown and for fostering a sense of pride in the city.
Highlighting the significance of timely payments, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr emphasized that they are vital for ensuring the delivery of essential services to residents. She underscored that property rates and business licenses contribute significantly to Freetown City Council’s (FCC) own source revenue, constituting 60% of its total income.
Aki-Sawyerr disclosed that the distribution of demand notes for property rates and business licenses is currently underway across Freetown, urging residents to adhere to the payment deadlines.
Dear Freetonians,

I fully support Mayor Aki-Sawyerr and encourage all concerned Freetown taxpayers to discharge their civic duties promptly.
But I’d also urge and plead with the Mayor to come off her high horse and reach out and get the central government to run the city for the sake of ALL FREETONIANS!
The desperately unsightly condition of the City requires extraordinary efforts to redeem it.
It’s NEVER BAD TO STOOP TO CONQUER and achieve desirable outcomes, Ma’am.
