Mohamed Gento Kamara, an aspiring SLPP Mayoral candidate, has come out boldly accusing his own tribesmen as being responsible for fanning the flame of unrest in the country.
“Most of the people that are bringing unrest in this country are people that are coming from my own tribe”, Med Gento Kamara told the congregants at UBC Church in Kissy.
He made this shocking revelation while addressing congregants at the UBC Church in Kissy wherein he told them about his political ambition to vie for the Mayoral seat under the SLPP ticket.
However, when Gento made that statement, some members of congregation were not pleased with him. They considered his statement as an affront to the Temne-Limba Tribe for which he said he is belonging to.
“Gento’s outburst is not only unfortunate but rather it is provocative as it aimed at portraying the Temne- Limba in a bad light.
Such a statement has the proclivity to sow the seed of disgust in the minds of the Temne-Limba”, Cross section of members of the UBC told Voice of Salone Newspaper, stating that they were not expecting that utterances to have come from Gento and urged him to retract that demeaning statement.
Meanwhile, the business tycoon also postulated that the tribal hatred in the country is very endemic and that is a cause for concern that propelled him to enter into active politics.
He added that his aspiration to enter into active politics was borne out of the August 10 incidence. “My aspiration to enter into active politics came after the August 10 incidence… That incident was saddened on that day”, he said, adding that what he saw on that day was so discouraging and that has portrayed a clear picture that war is around the corner.
“The amount of indiscipline and tribal hatred displayed on August 10 was very discouraging”, he revealed, stating how that has implied as if people are forgetting quickly about the meaning of the 11 Years rebel war.
With the prevailing tribal divide, he said, it is imminent that the country would experience tribal war and stressed that “if we have tribal war, it will surpass the 11 years rebel war”, and called on the Bishop of the church to pray for stability in Sierra Leone.
Gento also reflected on his relationship with Former President Koroma and prayed for God to bless him.
“During the APC regime, Me and Ernest Koroma had a very good relationship”, he revealed, and recalled his role played to broker peace between Ernest Koroma and Julius Maada Bio.
